Exhibition of Eva Petrič - May 31 - August 31, 2024

Worlds of drops.. Drops of worlds...

The exhibition Worlds of drops.. Drops of worlds... authored by the Slovenian multimedia artist Eva Petrič can be viewed in the church of St. Rochus at Veli Brijun until the end of August.

With the exhibition Worlds of drops.. Drops of worlds... the author creates new forms in the form of drops and tears, giving them a new dimension and context, through the monumental assemblages of lace created by combining the traditional handicrafts of different authors, mostly women. In this way, the artist connects and interweaves tradition in the form of tangible and intangible heritage with a new contemporary work of art, retaining in it the emotions of all those who have woven a part of themselves into it. The motif of tears is thus not just a mere form, but takes on all the complexity of human feelings stored in these works. Eva Petrič is a versatile, transmedia artist who works between Ljubljana, Vienna and New York, creating in the techniques of photography, video, installation, performance, and sound. One of her main artistic engagements is the creation of space: physical, mental, imaginary and metaphorical defined by atmosphere, while at the same time connecting different media by observing their interrelationships.

Since 2012, Petrič has been creating monumental, recycled lace assemblages made from donated and collected handmade lace from around the world. She graduated in psychology and visual arts from Webster University in Vienna, and received a master's degree in new media from the Transart Institute in New York and Berlin.

For her work, presented at more than 100 solo and 140 group exhibitions around the world, she was awarded numerous awards and prizes. She has published several books and collections of poetry, and her latest hybrid art book @pple girl story2 - to be a shadow or a puppet was presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Lace installations combined with poetry are presented in Eva Petrič's monograph, WEBBING.
