Dear guests, we offer a number of benefits to make your stay at Brijuni National Park as pleasant as possible.

Arrival and transport by boat to the island of Veliki Brijun

The pier from which the boat for Veliki Brijun departs is located in the very centre of Fažana. It is important to adhere to the departure times of the boat leaving from Fažana to Veliki Brijun. The boat ride takes 15 minutes.

Before boarding the boat, guests need to register at the Brijuni National Park branch office in Fažana, at Brionska 10.

*The first boat ride to Veliki Brijun for hotel guests departs at 12:30 h. After that time, all the boat rides in the current timetable can be used.

  • If you wish to visit the island earlier than that, it is possible by buying a ticket for Brijuni National Park according to the regular price list. More information is available at: https://shop.np-brijuni.hr/en/webshop?trip=veli_brijun.
  • The price of accommodation includes transport by boat to the island when originally arriving and ultimately departing from the island and once a day during your stay, as a Brijuni-Fažana-Brijuni round trip. All other transport is charged according to the price list valid for hotel guests.

Tours on Veliki Brijun

You can explore Veliki Brijun on an interesting tour with a guide.

The tour starts on the eastern side of the island, in the central port of Brijuni, where you will be welcomed by professional guides who will be at your disposal for any questions and additional information. One part of the tour is designed as a one-hour ride in a tourist train along the coast, to the northern part of the island, where the Safari Park is located.

The tourist train on the island will take you by:

1. natural treasures:

— the Safari Park, a 4th-century olive tree and the Stone Pine Alley; and

2. cultural heritage gems:

— Verige Bay and the 1st-century Roman residential villa.

The tour also includes a tour of the Natural History Collection and the ‘Josip Broz Tito on Brijuni’ photography exhibition, of Saint Germanus’ church from the 15th century, with its exhibition of copies of frescoes and Glagolitic script-inscribed monuments, the Boathouse as well as a short break and an opportunity to have refreshments and buy Brijuni-themed souvenirs.

Bicycles

The bicycle is one of the favourite means of transport of many visitors to our national park. A pleasant ride and a gentle breeze are an ideal combination for completely indulging in the mysterious beauty of Brijuni.

Golf

If you want a completely new experience of playing golf, on Brijuni, golf is played on a unique golf course from 1922, which at the time boasted the flattering title of one of the largest and, of course, one of the most beautiful golf courses of that period.

Snorkelling

On the eastern side of Veliki Brijun, there are remains of an authentic Roman villa on the seabed of Verige Bay. While snorkelling with a mask, snorkel and fins on the 500-m-long trail with our experienced professional instructor, you will be able to experience the unforgettable underwater world of Brijuni and discover the numerous and interesting sea animals that have guarded the villa since the Roman period.

Kayak tour

The Mali Brijun Adventure Tour is a unique opportunity to experience the pristine nature and rich historical heritage of the island of Mali Brijun. Through a special outdoor experience, combining kayaking along the coast of the island, free-diving in a protected marine area and easy tracking around the island with a tour of the largest fort in the Adriatic, Fort Brioni Minor, you can explore one of the most interesting islands of the Brijuni archipelago.

Cultural and historical heritage

Boathouse

At the very entrance to the Veliki Brijun port, your gaze is sure to be drawn by an unusual building — the Boathouse. It was built in 1902 and is today the only fully preserved Art Nouveau building on the island.

An interpretation and education centre has been opened in the Boathouse, which showcases Brijuni in an innovative and interactive way.

Brijuni Time Machine, Brijuni Archipelago, Terrestrial World, Underwater World and Threats and Awareness are thematic units through which you can independently discover the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the islands. Learn about Brijuni in a modern, interactive and fun way.

Permanent exhibitions

The rich cultural and historical heritage of Brijuni is also showcased by permanent exhibitions. An exhibition of copies of frescoes and Glagolitic inscriptions of Istria and Kvarner is located in the church of St Germanus, while the ‘Memories of an old Austrian’ exhibition, ‘Josip Broz Tito on Brijuni’ photography exhibition and the natural history exhibition can be visited in the former steam bath building.
